PTIT CALIN Objectives & Themes
Pre School
Preschool 1 program focuses on building up language vocabularies to enhance self-expressing skills. The simple activities in the programme allow the children to build up awareness and hand-eye coordination skills. Children will also be picking up simple but important basic social habits and manners.
This program focuses on :
- Letter sounds, simple numbers, shapes and colors
- Pronunciation and conversation
- Vocabularies build up
- Self-awareness on own body
- Basic healthy habits and manners
- Basic social phrases
- Basic self-expressing abilities
- Hand eye coordination
- To accomplish works on their own, such as colouring
Nursery
Here children continue to build on skills acquired from preschool 1. At this level, the program reinforces on the letter sounds. Phonics and vowels are also started in this program along with Maths of greater numbers and simple science knowledge. Children also learn to recognise emotions and moods in building intrapersonal and interpersonal skills in the continuance of learning healthy habits and good manners.
This program focuses on
- French and English: Vowels sounds, pronunciation, conversations, reading, vocabularies
- Numeracy: Greater numbers, sizes, height, length and opposites, matching, sorting and comparing.
- Intrapersonal and interpersonal skills: Recognising emotions and moods
- Character education: The right concept of value, and good manners
- Continuance on self-expressing abilities
- Physical development: Hand eye coordination, gross and simple fine motor skills, writing.
- Discovery of the world: Temperature, animals and their habitats, weight, texture etc.
Kindergarten 1
Self-discovery programme starts at K1 level. At this level, language grammar and comprehension are also started in this programme. Children also learn to build their characters through good understanding of values and manners. Discovery of the world focus on anatomy of animals and their habitats.
K1 program focuses on :
- French /English: Consonants blends (phonics), grammar, comprehension, Development of discussion, answer & reply, singular and plural, noun and verbs etc
- Numeracy: Greater numbers, addition and subtraction, problem solving using data.
- Intrapersonal and interpersonal skills: Recognising emotions and moods, social phrases, courtesy.
- Character education: Values and manners. Habits building.
- Continuance on self-expressing and self-regulation abilities
- Physical development: Fine motor skills
- Discovery of the world: Anatomy of plants and animals, Geography and culture.
Kindergarten 2
Self-discovery continue to be the main focus at K2 level. Projects are given to the children to allow them to discover knowledge through fulfilment of their curiosity. The children also started learning language tenses which help them in the construction of sentences. Reading and comprehension is taken to a more advanced stage when children recognise more vocabularies. Problem solving through using data train the children to be analytical. Intrapersonal and interpersonal skills are continued through examples and role play of characters with good values being built in.
K2 program focuses on
- French/English: Short and long vowels (phonics), reading and construction of short phrases and sentences, pronoun, adverbs, adjectives, tenses, prepositions and conjunctions.
- Numeracy: Greater numbers, addition and subtraction, time, measurements, problem solving using data.
- Intrapersonal and interpersonal skills: Recognising emotions and moods, social behaviours and phrases, courtesy.
- Character education: Values and manners. Habits building.
- Continuance on self-expressing and self-regulation abilities
- Physical development: Basic competitive sports
- Discovery of the world: Anatomy of human, Classification of animals, Geography and countries.
